Frequently asked questions
What is Text2SpeechFree?
Text2SpeechFree is a free online text to speech generator that runs 100% in your browser. You type or paste text, choose a voice, adjust pitch, speed and volume, and listen or record the audio. It needs no sign-up and has no backend.
Is this text to speech tool completely free?
Yes. Text2SpeechFree has no sign-up, no usage limits and no watermark. It uses the voices already installed in your browser or operating system.
How to record or download TTS audio as MP3 or WAV?
Click Record & Download, choose This Tab in the share prompt and turn on Share tab audio. The tool speaks your text, records the tab audio with MediaRecorder, and downloads a WebM file. A WAV version is also created in your browser for download. Native MP3 export is not available because browsers cannot encode MP3 without extra software.
Which browser supports Web Speech API?
Speech synthesis works in Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on desktop and mobile. Tab audio recording works best in Chrome and Edge on desktop.
Is my text uploaded to a server?
No. The page has no backend, so your text stays in your browser. Some browsers use online voices that send text to their own speech provider, so choose a local voice for full offline privacy.
Why are there different voices on different devices?
The voice list comes from your browser and operating system, so Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and Chrome each offer different voices and languages.
